TESCO Corporate Responsibility Report 2012


Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen from a market stall in London’s East End. Over the years this business has grown and now operates in 14 countries around the world, employ over 500,000 people and serve tens of millions of customers every week. TESCO has always been committed to providing the best shopping experience. Today the firm continues to focus on doing the right thing for our customers, colleagues and the communities it serves.

With operations across Asia, Europe and North America there are thousands of examples of how TESCO is working with customers, suppliers, charities, NGOs and local communities to fulfill the Community Promises. This review explains how the company develops the corporate responsibility strategy and manage the performance. It also looks at some of the challenges TESCO faces as a global business and important areas where it is making a difference to the customers, the environment, the people and the suppliers.
